It will exceed depending on the number of panther groupers in your aquarium. The water shouldn’t be less than 300 gallons if you are planning to take care of them. Yes, you can still do it when they are still in a standard size. However, they can quickly outgrow your average tank.

Due to their maximum size, these species aren’t typically seen in a home aquarium. You can observe them in aquarium museums or public tanks where they swim freely to the vast space with other family species. You can also have one in your aquarium as long as you have good water capacity and tank size.

Living requirement

In order for a panther grouper to stress-free live in your aquarium, you should lend a prosperous water condition. Like other species, they need clean water, so filtration and frequent cleaning will be necessary. They are not difficult to take care of as long as there’s proper water maintenance.

You can see this panther grouper in areas in your aquarium at the middle or top of the tank. However, if they are hunting for food, they will roam around the bottom of your aquarium. They will be more at ease in your aquarium once you place various pebbles.

You can also place hide-outs such as vast stones and plants. This hide-out should keep up with their size, so they utilize this as a resting spot. Do not worry if the plants or reefs darken some area in your aquarium, for a panther grouper will be delighted with that.

Tankmates

In panther grouper, to find their best tankmates, place them together with species the same size as them. Panther grouper is known for consuming fishes that they can eat up, so always keep this in mind.

Select the non-aggressive fishes to avoid fighting that will end up opening wounds, making them prone to other diseases. If you’ll be placing other fishes, closely monitor first if they are compatible together.
